CHICKABALLAPURA

Chikkaballapur, located in the state of Karnataka, India, serves as the district headquarters of the newly formed Chikkaballapur district. It was carved out from Kolar district. Situated within 3 km of Muddenahalli, the birthplace of the renowned engineer and statesman Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvarayya, the region holds historical significance. Notably, a pioneering Pharmaceutical Special Economic Zone (SEZ) worth $400 million is being developed on 325 acres of land, making it the first of its kind in India. The city is undergoing significant infrastructure development, including the transformation of Traveler Bunglow into a modern bus terminus, construction of district government and police headquarters, and extensive investments by the state government for urban development and underground sanitation systems. Chikkaballapur is recognized as a regional transport hub, educational center, and a prominent area for grape, grain, and silk cultivation.
