Being located in the Kancheepuram district Acharapakkam is a well known panchayat town. The reason for its fame is its ancient Temple of Shiva which is named as Akshiswaraswamy Temple and this is one of the Davaram Temples. This town is located at a distance of 96 Kms from Chennai and it now comes under the Chennai metropolitan area. There are famous legends associated with this town. This town lies on NH 45 and thus can be easily accessed from any part of the city to access into the remote parts of the city one can stop at Melmaruvathur and take local buses from there.
