Kalpakkam is located in Tamil Nadu and is a small town which stands on the Coromandel Coast at a distance of seventy kilometres from Chennai. It consists of two villages Puduppattinam and Sadurangappatinam. Kalpakkam is renowned for its nuclear plants and its other research infrastructures adjacent to it. These infrastructures are Madras Atomic Power Station, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research and Bhabha Atomic Research Centre which is affiliated to the Department of Atomic Research. There is a rising demand for real estate in Kalpakkam to accommodate the employees of these nuclear plants. As a result of this, a new township called Anupuram at a distance of eight kilometres was built in the year 1998.
