Dahegam is a city and municipality in the Gandhinagar district of Gujarat, India. Situated approximately 23 kilometers from the district headquarters, Gandhinagar, it serves as a vital administrative and commercial hub in the region. The city stands at an elevation of about 73 meters above sea level and had a population of 80,532 as per the 2011 census. Dahegam boasts a rich history spanning over 800 years. In 1257 AD, the region was under the rule of the Khilji dynasty. Subsequently, it came under the control of the Mughals and later the Marathas. The Gaekwad dynasty established Dahegam taluka in 1875, marking its significance as a political center. Initially part of Ahmedabad district, Dahegam was incorporated into Gandhinagar district in 1998 following administrative reorganization. Dahegam is well-connected by road, with State Highways 141 and 68 passing through the city. These highways facilitate easy access to neighboring cities like Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The city is served by the Nandol Dehegam railway station, located on the Ahmedabad–Udaipur line. The nearest airport is Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, approximately 25 kilometers away, providing both domestic and international flight services.
