As a long-standing member of this society, I am writing this to highlight several critical issues regarding the current management and safety protocols: Management Conduct: The Treasurer’s behavior has become increasingly authoritarian, acting more like a landlord than a representative of the members. There is a visible lack of professional conduct and humility. Safety & Fire Violations: Most concerning is that the Society Office has been established in the Refuge Area, which is a direct violation of fire authority laws and puts lives at risk. Bylaw Violations: The society has bypassed standard bylaws by converting the garbage room into a living and cooking space for the security guard. This is unhygienic and illegal. Security Concerns: We have had the same security personnel for over three years without rotation. The current guard acts with an entitled attitude and there is a significant communication barrier as he cannot interact in the local language (Marathi). Lack of Transparency: There appears to be a monopoly regarding vendors, with specific individuals being prioritized without transparent bidding processes. Overall, the living environment has deteriorated due to these management failures and the presence of undesirable elements within the community. Urgent intervention is needed. Prospective residents should be aware of the following governance issues in this society: Fire Safety Hazard: The management has illegally occupied the building's Refuge Area to set up a society office, ignoring fire safety regulations. Misuse of Common Areas: Garbage rooms are being used as residential quarters for staff, which is a clear violation of society bylaws and health standards. Monopolistic Behavior: Vendor selection is biased and lacks transparency, suggesting a monopoly that doesn't benefit the residents' funds. Staff Management: The security staff has been stationary for years and lacks professional oversight. The guard behaves as if he owns the premises, and the lack of local language proficiency makes daily coordination difficult for many residents. Leadership: The Treasurer’s "overpowering" behavior creates a hostile environment for members who seek transparent. I am deeply disappointed with the current state of our society management. We are facing several major issues: The Treasurer exhibits unprofessional and "landlord-like" behavior toward respected members. The Society Office is built in a Refuge Area, posing a massive fire safety risk. Security guards are not rotated; the current guard is unprofessional, entitled, and unable to communicate in Marathi. Internal bylaws are being ignored to provide living quarters in the garbage room. There is a clear monopoly with specific vendors special security vendor, ignoring fair competition. The society needs a complete overhaul of its management committee to ensure the safety and dignity of its residents.
