DDA set to offer 10,300 apartments via housing scheme in 2019Aadil Saif 09 April 2019
The cost of owning a new home in Delhi is quite overwhelming. is The surging price of the land poses a serious question. How will the new-middle class afford a new home? There is a huge disparity between the average income and the property prices that needs to be bridged. This disparity has left the majority of the real estate properties unsold. It is because of the immense struggle from the new families to find a new home, the Delhi government has decided to construct and launch new homes at an affordable rate in various locations.
Delhi Development Authority (DDA) decided in a meeting that new flats will be constructed for the families in Delhi in different locations so that the pricing strategy of the real estate developers can be easily tackled or kept under a bar. This new housing scheme will be held under the supervision of Lt. Governor’s chairmanship. This meeting took place in Raj Niwas.
DDA New Scheme
As per the recent updates, the construction of the new apartments in different locations in Delhi will be soon ready to be launched for the possession of the families here. The flats will have different categories and will be presented for occupation. In fact, the government has taken it to a new level. The application and all other formalities will be done online. The families will not have to come down to the office and wait in a queue the whole day. The online application and all the other associated process will be done digitally.

A senior official of this new scheme said that a draft policy will be displayed in the public domain to attract comments and suggestions from the common people as well. This newly drafted policy will remain on display for 21 days only in various public forums. In fact, the same authority has drafted a new policy to enhance walk ability following the footsteps of Chennai.
Elaboration of the new scheme
The new scheme drafted by DDA will contain 10,300 flats of different sizes. The entire venture is under construction and will be soon launched on the internet for acquisition. The construction is almost complete but the water supply and a few other works are left to be completed. The senior official said that the rest of the work left will be completed by the end of July 2020.
As per the scheme, there will be 960 EWS apartments constructed in Narela. 8383 LIG flats will be built in Vasant Kunj and Narela. 579 MIG apartments will be built in Vasant Kunj. 448 HIG flats will be built in Vasant Kunj. This list was released by DDA in a statement regarding the scheme during the meeting session.
The budget set for these new developments is INR 6968 Crore. It also includes the transformation of Delhi into a world-class settlement. A huge vacant area of 200 hectares in Dwarka is being proposed for development. The plan also includes development of socio-cultural centers in CBD, Rohini, Shahdara, etc. The beautification of the city in various locations will also be carried on.
