Gurugram’s Chintels Paradiso to Be Redeveloped in Two Phases Following Safety Concerns
Addressofchoice 07 January 2025The Chintels Paradiso condominium complex, located in Sector-109, Gurugram, is set for demolition and redevelopment in two phases. This decision comes after safety concerns were raised following structural audits. The Haryana Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has officially approved the redevelopment plan, with demolition slated to begin within six months.
First Phase Targets Six Towers
In the first phase, towers D, E, F, G, H, and J will be demolished, as confirmed by officials from Chintels India, the developer. Structural audits conducted by technical experts from IIT-Delhi and the Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) deemed all nine towers in the complex unsafe. IIT-Delhi flagged five towers (D, E, F, G, and H), while Tower J was declared unsafe in January 2024. Pending reports for the remaining three towers—A, B, and C—are expected to confirm similar issues.
Safety Concerns Sparked by Tragic Incident
The safety concerns stemmed from a tragic incident on February 10, 2022, when a ceiling collapse in Tower D claimed the lives of two residents. The incident occurred during renovations on the sixth floor of the tower. Following this, the Haryana DTCP ordered a structural audit to assess the complex's safety. Subsequent audits revealed severe structural deficiencies across the property, prompting the redevelopment decision.
A Step Towards Resident Safety
With the DTCP’s approval, the redevelopment plan aims to prioritize the safety of residents and restore confidence in the structural integrity of the complex. The phased approach will allow for a systematic reconstruction process, ensuring all necessary precautions are taken during demolition and redevelopment.
