An Overview
Ayanavaram is also known as Ayanpuram and is a locality in Chennai which is situated at a distance of eight kilometres from the City Centre. One of the important roads that connect Chennai is the Konnur High Road and passes through Ayanavaram. It can also be said as a peripheral commercial area of Chennai. Coming to etymology, Ayana is other name for Brahma and according to the legend, Lord Brahma worshipped Lord Shiva in this region and in recognition of this, this region was named Ayanavaram. Ayanavaram lies in proximity to Georgetown and the nearest train station is Perambur Locoworks Railway Station.
