MYLAPORE

Mylapore is one of the most famous neighborhoods located in the Southern part of Chennai. It is popular as a cultural hub and is also one of the oldest residential areas of the state. Mylapore is also known as Thirumayilai. This place is famous for Kapaleeshwarar Temple, Katcheri seasons and the Ramakrishna Math. The original Kapaleeshwarar temple was demolished by the Portugese and built as San Thome Basilica which is the house of the tmb of Thomas the Apostle. It is a religious place and the other temples in the region are Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Sri Vedantha Desikar Devasthanam, Madhava Perumal Temple etc.
