An Overview
Old Mahabalipuram road is popularly known as the OMR road, and officially the road is named as the State Highway 49A. It is also known as the Rajiv Gandhi Salai Road. Being one of the eminent roads, the Old Mahabalipuram Road connect Chennai and Mahabalipuram and runs through the Kanchipuram district. The length of the road is forty five kilometres and it starts at Madhya Kailash Temple on the Sardar Patel Road and finishes at the East Coast Road which is near to Mahabalipuram. This road helps the Tidel Park that houses the BPOs and the IT companies. SIPCOT also lying in close proximity to this road is growing because of this road.
