Palavanthangal is also known as Pazhavanthangal and is located in the Southern part of Chennai. The name Pallavanthangal is an anglicized name for the real name of the place which is Pallavan Thangal. It was a residence of the Pallava Dynasty and Thangal which means water tanks were dug by the ruler of those times. The name of the place is derived from this. Pallavathangal lies in between Saint Thomas Mount and Meenambakkam.
