Santhome, Chennai

In Mylapore neighbourhood of Chennai City, Santhome is a locality and the name Santhome comes from two words Saint Thomas. Being an abode for mostly Christian families, the history of Santhome goes back to 72 AD when Saint Thomas was martyred in the city. Santhome is renowned for the number of educational institutions in the place and it is also the administrative capital of Archdiocese of Madras-Mylapore. The important educational institutions located in Santhome are Roasary Matriculation School, Domino Savio Matric School, Saint Raphael’s School, Santhome High Secondary school etc. Apart from that there are the main offices of consulates of Russia and Spain as well.
