Thirumangalam, Chennai

Tirumangalam is both a city and a municipality located in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu. There are twenty seven wards in this municipality. It is said that “Mangalam” for the Lordess Meenakshi was made and designed in this place and hence the name Tirumangalam. There are also other popular legends associated with the etymology of this place. There are regular buses available and passing through Tirumangalam especially the buses plying from and to Madurai, Virudhunagar, Vadipatti, Usilampatti, Sholavandan etc. The population of this town according to the census of 2011 is around half a lakh.
