An Overview
Perambur is a renowned locality which is situated in the northern part of Chennai in Tamil Nadu. It lies at a distance of four kilometres from the main central station. This was previously a bamboo forest and the name is derived from the word “perambur” which mean bamboo. This area became a part of Chennai in the year of 1742. This area can be accessed through three railway stations which are Perambur, Perambur Carriage Works and the Perambur Loco Works. It was one of the first British settlements in the country which was developed in the year of 1850 because of the establishment of the railway network.
