SALIGRAMAM

Saligramam is one of the neighborhoods in the western part of the city of Chennai, one of the metropolitan cities of Tamil Nadu, India. It is a residential area/ locality which is surrounded by KK Nagar on the Southside, Koyambedu on the north side and Vadapalani in the East side Virugambakkam in the Westside. In 1997, it was merged with the city of Chennai and District; and previously was a part of Saidapet Taluka in Chengleput District. Two of the most famous temples of Saligramam are Vadapalani Murugan Temple and Raghavendra temple of Saligramam. Its famous eateries include Firdouse, Chocoman’s, Cream En Creamy, Kaanchi bakers and sweets, New Kerela chips and Sri Paarvathi Bhavan. The nearest metro station to Saligramam is the Vadapalani metro station. The buses in Saligramam move frequently and are available from Broadway/Parrys to Saligramam through the Egmore as well as the central railway station; Kodabakkam and Vadapalani. It is also nicely connected to Koyambedu bus terminal, the central railway station as well as the airport. These join Saligramam to the major localities like Vadapalani, T. Nagar, Anna Nagar, KK Nagar and Arun Nagar. It has three major hospitals namely-  Sooriya Hospital, VHM Hospital Pvt Ltd, and Dentist in vadapalani and four major reputed schools, namely- Kaveri high school. Sri Child Fruit Matriculation School, Padma Seshadri school, AVM school, Balakok and General Cariappa Higher Secondary High School. It also has all the major ATMs and Banks, as well as shopping complexes, service stations, and centers, main roads, vegetable markets, supermarkets, multiplexes, various showrooms, petrol pumps and parks. Saligramam is considered a good locality with nice people and is also equipped with most of the facilities one would require, but it still has some miles to go in the development of its transport sector. It is still yet to develop as a primarily residential area of Chennai.
