Thiruvanmiyur is a large residential neighbourhood in South Chennai which has witnessed a growth in its economy due to the construction of the Tidel information technology park which is a technology office space in Taramani. This led to the rise of subsequent businesses related to IT, research centres and commercial offices. The Marundeeswarar temple dedicated to Lord Shiva which was also mentioned in the Sangam Tamil epics is located in Thiruvanmiyur. This region is well connected by the Metropolitan Transport Corporation buses and the Thiruvanmiyur Railway station also lies opposite to Tidel Park. The East Coast road also connects Thiruvanmiyur with Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry.
